Auto Accidents

Rear-end collisions, head-on collisions, and side-impact collisions are common auto accidents that end in minor and major injuries. Some examples of physical injuries include: broken bones, fractured bones, internal bleeds, body pain and soft tissue injuries. Any type of mental anguish or emotional distress, such as anxiety and insomnia, are also types of injuries that arise from collisions. When someone is injured due to the negligent actions of another, this gives rise to the ability to file a claim against the other person or their insurance company. If we are able to prove the negligence of another, we will then be able to obtain a fair and just compensation for our injured client.

Most Common Causes of Auto Accidents:

Intoxicated Drivers: Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs makes the person a danger to themselves and those around them.
Distracted Drivers: Many auto accidents are caused because a driver is distracted with another matter.
Reckless Drivers: Speeding, tailgating, swerving in and out of traffic, and cutting off other drivers are examples of reckless driving that can lead to auto accidents.

What We Do

If you have been injured and believe someone else is to blame for the injury in an incident, outside of the course of your employment, you may be entitled to a personal injury case. Coria Law has the ability to assist you in obtaining compensation for, but not limited to, medical expenses, property damage, pain and suffering, and lost wages. We will always prioritize your health and make sure you get the treatment you need.

What To Do After An Auto Accident

REMAIN CALM

Try to remain calm and ONLY exit your vehicle if it is safe to do so. If you are on the freeway, pull over to the shoulder lane if you can safely do so. Speak to the other driver in a calm manner as you do not know if they will act aggressively towards you.

GET INFORMATION FROM THE OTHER DRIVER

Take a picture of the other driver’s ID or driver’s license. Get the name and policy number of their insurance company as well. It is the law in California that both drivers must exchange information regardless of fault. If they refuse to provide you with their information, call 911 to request an officer’s assistance.

TAKE PICTURES AND TALK TO WITNESSES

Take pictures of the scene. This would include images of the street, your car and the other car’s damages. If there are witnesses, get their names and phone numbers. If a police report was filed, obtain the report number.

SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION

Prioritize your health above all else. Check for any injuries and seek medical attention from a professional. If serious, call 911. If any injuries are visible, take photos. This would include any cuts and bruising. Keep track of all your medical expenses, including hospital bills, ambulance bills, paramedic bills, and any other costs related to your accident and medical treatment.

How long do you have to file a claim after a car accident?

You have two years from the date of the accident to file an injury claim in California. However, there are certain situations that can change the time period you have. To ensure that all legal matters are handled properly, it is best to consult and/or obtain a personal injury attorney.

Does the other party’s insurance company have to pay to
repair my vehicle?

If the other party’s insurance company has accepted liability for the auto accident, they will pay to repair your vehicle.

How can a auto accident attorney help me with my case?

At Coria Law, we prioritize treatment of our clients because it is important that all injuries are addressed and cared for properly. Our office works with many medical doctors and facilities across Southern California. With the resources we have, we are able to get you into all types of medical treatment needed right away.

Secondly, we take on the responsibility of obtaining compensation from the responsible party. Many insurance companies and at-fault parties will low-ball victims without attorneys. Surprisingly, many people take those offers because they do not fully know what their case/situation is worth. An attorney would be able to evaluate your case and fight for a fair compensation.

How much does an attorney charge for their services?

At Coria Law, we work on a contingency basis. Thus, if we don’t win, you don’t pay! This is provided to all of our clients in writing upon them hiring our firm.
